With more than a century of experience in shaping the evolution of communications, Nortel continues its tradition of innovation today by providing secure solutions that ignite and power global commerce while helping solve the world’s greatest challenges. The strength of Nortel is in its people. Karen Monaghan’s role as a University Relations Strategist at Nortel is to the recruit and develop the talented students that will be the company’s future innovators. Her role consists of managing Nortel’s recruitment relationships with various Canadian universities, as well as delivering seminars and workshops to students on topics related to career development and planning. Karen also has a role in creating/managing Nortel’s various global student programs and initiatives. She is also a member of the National Board of the Canadian Association for Career Educators and Employers. Karen has been with Nortel since graduating from Carleton University in 1999 with a degree in Political Science. The human race is a spectacular representation of diversity in thought, culture, and custom. Organizations that span the globe face the challenge of cross-cultural collaboration. In this seminar we will explore the meaning of culture and how it affects interaction among individuals in the workplace (co-workers, employees, customers…). We will establish a basis for forming strong professional relationships in a global workplace. We will also focus on understanding our own individual personality attributes and how they affect our interaction with others. |
